I'm still here ..

Well, as the title says ... I'm still here.

I know, it has been a while since my last post but there has been a lot happening over the last few years (truly, years???).

I've had major open heart surgery, which also meant 10 days in intensive care while they tried to convince my heart to do it's thing - then had to insert a pacemaker.   We then had the next year with Wayne in and out of hospital for various reasons and 4 months off work.  Each year saw us saying 'next year will be better' and 'can't wait for the end of this year'.

Obviously, that didn't go to plan - then this year we get a pandemic right after bushfires.  Now we're looking at a whole new kind of normal to deal with.  Guess what I'm NOT saying this time around?

There have been a few highlights though, I think.  People have started to realise what is truly important in life, and priorities have been reset.  The planet has had a bit of a chance to try to clean up the air and water and so on - although how long that will last once travel is back on the agenda, who knows?  (At least we know that if the world ever becomes a planet with no humans, it will be beautiful!)

Plans ... well, for the moment, just seeing what comes, I guess.  However, I am actively planning for retirement in the next couple of years - I want to have some time to do what I enjoy, rather than working full-time.  Just have to juggle this so we can actually afford to live as well.

Next year should also see Tennant Creek hosting the Guides Region Camp for the NT - Covid permitting, of course.  This is something I have managed to avoid till now - but outvoted by my Leadership team this time.  (Only taken 37 years!!)  So .. lots of work there to come as well.

Anyhow  ...  about 5 weeks to the end of Guides, 6 more weeks to the end of term, 9 weeks to the end of the year.  At least 3 more get togethers for our Craft Group before then.  6 week holiday break and then see what 2021 brings.
